SAN DIEGO–The “2 Hot Chicks” team from OE FCU has won the 2015 XDI Credit Union Chili Challenge, a chili cook-off that is sanctioned by the International Chili Society.
With the victory a $10,000 donation was made to the team’s charity of choice, the American Cancer Society. The chief cook for the 2 Hot Chicks team was Kim Hutton.
The XDI Credit Union Chili Challenge is an annual event that is held each year at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racetrack in Del Mar, Calif.
Fourteen credit union teams participated in the cook off. Teams thought they were competing for $10,000 in prizes, but as Xpress Data founder Mike Cooper noted, “Since we’re coming up on our 20th birthday, doubling the prize money to $20,000 seemed like the right thing to do.”
Second prize was won by the “B One With the Chili” team from SchoolsFirst FCU, which won $7,500 for the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Taking third was the “There’s No Crying In Lending” team from Kinecta FCU, which won $3,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
