7 Elected To CUNA Board; One Race Being Contested

MADISON, Wis.—Seven people have been elected by acclimation to the CUNA board, while there is one contested election still to take place. Elected were: 

  • District 1, Class B: Gary Furtado, president/CEO, Navigant CU, Smithfield, R.I.
  • District 2,  Class C: Rod Staatz, president/CEO, SECU, Linthicum, Md.
  • District 3, Class D: Patrick La Pine, president/CEO, League of Southeastern Credit Unions and Affiliates.
  • District 4, Class B: Peter Dzuris, president/CEO, Northland Area FCU, Oscoda, Mich.
  • District 4, Class D: Patrick Jury, president/CEO, Iowa Credit Union League.
  • District 5, Class A: Winona Nava, president/CEO, Guadalupe CU, Santa Fe, N.M.
  • District 6, Class C: Brett Martinez, president/CEO, Redwood CU, Santa Rosa, Calif.

The contested election is taking place in District 3, which covers Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, where Stephanie Sievers, CEO of ANECA FCU in Shreveport, La., and Paul Hughes, president/CEO of Greenville (S.C.) FCU, are vying for the Class A seat.
