HAMILTON, Ohio— A 75-year-old woman has been sent to prison for robbing a local credit union.
As CUToday.info reported, Ann Mayers pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and a reduced firearms specification, from three years to one year during a robbery at a branch of AurGroup Credit Union.
Butler County Common Pleas Judge Dan Haughey sentenced Mayers to an indefinite prison term of four to five-and-a-half years. Mayers faces a maximum of 17½ years in prison, the Journal-News reported.
Mayers removed the license plate from her car, drove from Hamilton to the credit union, robbed it — getting less than $1,000 — drove to a store to make a return and then home, where she was in the backyard of her home when police closed in on her as a suspect, according to police, the Journal-News said. Mayers, with no criminal history, was arrested less than two hours after robbing the CU.
