A Visualization Of What Mobile Attacks Look Like

DALLAS–AdaptiveMobile, a provider of mobile security solutions, has released what it is calling a “visualization” of how mobile attacks are affecting financial institutions across the United States.

“The visualizations clearly demonstrate the solar-flare-like patterns of regional bank attacks, which show how local bank customers are being scammed by the heavy use of local cell numbers to perpetrate attacks,” the company said. “AdaptiveMobile’s graphics represent a five-month analysis of these attacks, and show the geographical areas affected, financial institutions targeted, as well as the timing of the attacks. This is one of the first times that an attack of this sort has been represented visually, and it provides powerful insight into the changing patterns and methods of cybercriminals.”

AdaptiveMobile said its researchers have been tracking and blocking criminal activity around messaging bank fraud alerts. The visualization can be found at http://www.adaptivemobile.com/visualisations-of-sophisticated-banking-scams.
