BURNS HARBOR, Ind.–Allegius Credit Union said it has selected a new president and CEO to succeed Ken Zagrocki, who the credit union said has “served with distinction.”
Effective Sept. 5, Karin L. Birchel will lead the $182.1-million organization. Birchel is currently VP-credit services with the credit union.
According to Birchel’s LinkedIn profile, she joined the credit union in mid-2019 after having previously worked in the health care field.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Birchel to the Allegius Credit Union family as our new CEO," said Chairman Bruce Aubrey. “Her extensive background in financial services and strategic leadership will contribute to the continued success and growth of our credit union. We believe that Ms. Birchel is the right person to guide us in providing superior financial services and building lasting relationships with our members."

Allegius Credit Union has approximately 13,000 members.
