Another Day, Another CU Facility Hit by a Car

CORVALLIS, Ore.–Another credit union facility has been struck by yet another car.

A 91-year-old Corvallis resident crashed through the front doors of a branch of Oregon State Credit Union on Northwest Ninth Street.

The gold Toyota RAV4 drove into the building after Marilyn Victor, who was attempting to park in the handicapped spot in front of the credit union, mistook the gas pedal for the brakes, accelerating over the curb, through the doors and into the building’s lobby, according to police.

No injuries were reported from the crash and Victor was not criminally charged or cited. The Toyota was significantly damaged, as was the building entrance, according to the Corvallis Gazette Times.

‘Pretty Much in Shock’

According to the report, a witness to the crash, Joel Geier said a young man heading to a 12-hour millwright shift was near the credit union’s ATM when he heard tires as the car hopped the curb and he jumped behind a concrete pillar to protect himself.

“The millwright had the presence of mind to go grab leather gloves from his vehicle, since there was broken glass everywhere, then helped the driver get out of the car,” police said in a statement to the Corvallis Gazette Times. “The people inside the credit union were pretty much in shock, just gathered around and looking.”
