SALT LAKE CITY—An armed robber claiming to have an explosive device strapped to his body held up and office of University Federal Credit Union here Tuesday evening.
Authorities reported that the robber confronted the manager of the 490 E. 500 S. office as he was leaving for the day, waiving a handgun and forcing the manager back into the building
The robber, caught on camera, told the manger and employees that he had a bomb, and demanded money. Officials said the device the thief was wearing had wires coming out of what appeared to be two small propane cylinders wrapped together.
The staff complied, and the robber, still at large, left with an undisclosed amount of money. No injuries were reported.
Authorities described the suspect, six-feet-tall, approximately 180 lbs., wearing dark pants, an olive green hooded sweatshirt, glasses under a green ski mask and heavy gloves.
