Avadian CU Continues Broad Expansion Of FOM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–Avadian Credit Union said it has been approved to expand its FOM to include 34 counties in the state of Alabama.

That expansion follows an earlier move by the CU to open its membership to 18 other Alabama counties: Blount, Cherokee, Colbert, Cullman, Dallas, DeKalb, Etowah, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Lee, Limestone, Marion, Marshall, Morgan, Randolph, Walker, and Winston.

The $616-million Avadian said the news continues to prove that joining a credit union is much easier than once believed, reminding that for “decades, credit unions have fought the common misconception that you have to work for a specific group to enjoy credit union benefits.”

"It may have started out like that at one point in time, but in today's world, for most credit unions, all it takes for a consumer to join is to live, work, worship or attend school in a county the credit union serves. It is our goal to reach and help as many people achieve their financial goals as we can. By expanding our membership, we are able to do just that," said ACU President and CEO Linda Cencula.
