CARBONDALE, Ill.—The $307-million SIU Credit Union said its CEO, Dennis Schaefer, has tendered his resignation and will retire effective April 15, 2016.

William S. Capie, the credit union’s chairman, will serve as interim CEO while the board reviews its selection criteria and processes by which a successor will be chosen. Mike Lantrip will assume the role of executive vice president and be responsible for overseeing many of the daily operations, the credit union said.

“We are appreciative of Dennis’ leadership over the past seven years as the credit union has undergone a significant transformation and grown its asset base to over $300,000,000,” said Capie in a statement. “We wish Dennis the best in his retirement.”
