CFE FCU Commits $1.5 Million To University Building Project

ORLANDO, Fla.–CFE Federal Credit Union here has committed $1.5 million to the University of Central Florida as part of a project to build a downtown campus. It is the second major donation to the $20-million fundraising effort, following the initial donation from the Orlando Magic. 

“The UCF Downtown campus will provide significant opportunities for Central Florida, and CFE is proud to support an initiative that will have such a meaningful impact on both a local and national scale,” said Joseph Melbourne Jr., president and CEO of CFE Federal Credit Union, in a prepared statement. “By investing in education, we can create a positive future for our community.”

The UCF Foundation is seeking to raise $20 million for the first $60-million academic building downtown. The university plans to provide $20 million, and $20 million is also being sought from the state. UCF estimates that on opening day, around 7,500 students will be enrolled at the campus.
