CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Charlotte Metro Credit Union has won the inaugural “Battle of the Brands” in this market staged by the Charlotte Business Journal.
Similar to an NCUA basketball tournament bracket, the competition began with 64 companies all squaring off against each other to win votes as the strongest company brand in the Charlotte market, whit readers voting to
determine which brands have the widest reach.
“However, we found that in many cases, companies with a high level of engagement came out ahead of those that may be recognized by a wider audience,” said the Charlotte Business Journal. “That could be the key in Charlotte Metro’s big win. The credit union, which ranks ninth by size among similar institutions in the area, handily defeated grocery chain Harris Teeter in the final matchup, with Charlotte Metro capturing 57% of the vote in the final round. Along the way, the credit union also beat out the local NFL franchise, the Carolina Panthers.
