WASHINGTON—Credit union-backed candidates won in primaries in Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, and Washington this week, America’s Credit Unions reported.
According to the trade group, some of the “key points” in the races included:
- In Michigan, Senate candidate Rep. Elissa Slotkin won her primary against actor Hill Harper with 76% of the vote, securing the Democratic nomination to face Republican Mike Rogers in November
- In Kansas, former Attorney General Derek Schmidt (R) won the 2nd congressional district primary to advance to the general election with 53% of the vote. Incumbent Jake LaTurner (R) chose not to run for re-election
- In Missouri, America’s Credit Unions said the candidates who received CU support saw a 100% success rate
- In Washington, the 4th congressional district primary election was not yet called at time of publication. Credit unions are supporting Rep. Dan Newhouse (R) in the election
