WASHINGTON—NAFCU, CUNA and two other financial trade groups have sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Leader Harry Reid urging them to strongly support the Senate’s passage of S. 754, the “Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA).”
“We urge you and your colleagues to pass this important legislation as it will increase the nation’s ability to defend against cyber attacks by encouraging businesses and the government to share cyber threat information more quickly and efficiently,” the groups wrote.
The groups also urged the Senate to support S. 961, the “Data Security Act of 2015,” introduced by Sens. Tom Carper (D-DE) and Roy Blunt (R-MO). The legislation would establish a strong, but scalable, national data security standard to safeguard sensitive and personal consumer data.
The Consumer Bankers Association and the Independent Community Bankers of America also signed the letter.
