ONTARIO, Calif.–CU Direct here said it has made an investment in and became an owner of MEMBERS Development Co. in Overland Park, Kan., which describes itself as, a growth engine for large credit unions.
CU Direct provides lending, automotive and strategic solutions. Both companies are CUSOs.
Members Development CEO Jeff Kline said CU Direct will add a rich dimension to the company’s collaborative efforts. Its track record of success in working with credit unions and their members both as a vehicle lending expert and as an organization committed to benefiting the credit union community, Kline said.
“It’s a pleasure to add CU Direct to our ownership roll, as we use our combined experience and know-how to serve credit unions while helping our respective owners/shareholders control costs,” Kline said. “Just as cooperation among credit unions makes for a winning combination, the same is true when CUSOs work together. After all, as organizations owned by many of the nation’s credit unions, CU Direct, was born of the cooperative spirit, just like MDC.
CU Direct was founded in 1994 to provide credit unions with best-in-class loan products to help them drive more loans, increase efficiencies and strengthen membership. Since then, it has worked with more than 1,000 credit unions and been part of more than $186 billion in loans
“I’m looking forward to combining forces with MDC because we share the philosophy and practice of actively collaborating for the good of the industry – and, ultimately, for the good of hard-working members,” said CU Direct’s President/CEO Tony Boutelle.
