CU Fires Employee Over Racially Charged Facebook Post

GREENVILLE, S.C.—MTC Federal Credit Union has fired an employee for posting a racially charged message on her Facebook page.

According to WSPA.com, the message, which used a derogatory term, says “N*****, better watch out. White people are sick of you racist attitude. We will not sit back and watch.”

That Facebook post was in response to a previous post claiming “liberals may riot if they don’t get their way in November,” the news outlet reported.

In a statement posted on its website the $158-million credit union said, “We are saddened about the recent Facebook post involving an employee.  It is in no way reflective of MTC Federal beliefs, values or policies.  Furthermore, the person responsible for posting these comments on their personal Facebook page is no longer employed with MTC Federal Credit Union.”

The former employee, whose name the news station said it is withholding, worked at the Verdae Boulevard branch in Greenville as a loan originator. She had “no lending authority,” CEO Bill Love told WSPA.com.

Love told WSPA.com that the message was a violation of the MTC Federal’s social media policy, but declined to say what that policy is because it’s an “HR issue.”
