CU Student Choice Hosting Webinar Aimed At High Schoolers

WASHINGTON—Credit Union Student Choice is helping high schoolers prepare for college through a free webinar.

The presentation, hosted by Student Choice’s College Access Counselor, Patricia Poplicean, is geared toward high school juniors and seniors, as well as their families.

The webinar will be offered at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. April 27. Topics will include important deadlines, FAFSA information, tips for applying to college and for scholarships, comparing financial aid packages and more. This is the second national webinar hosted by Poplicean this year. The first edition, “FAFSA: Before, During, After,” drew nearly 500 attendees from across the country.

“Since our inception, Student Choice has provided much more than just private student loans,” said Scott Patterson, president of Credit Union Student Choice. “We offer a variety of tools and resources to help students and their families make educated decisions about paying for college and establishing responsible financial habits. That mission aligns perfectly with our partner credit unions and the credit union movement as a whole.”

CU Student Choice said the addition of Poplicean to its team in 2015 is another way the company has strengthened its educational services. As college access counselor, Poplicean assists students through webinars, seminars, and one-on-one consultation via phone and email.

“Helping young adults and their families has been important to me both in my years at a credit union and now at Student Choice,” Poplicean said. “These webinars are a free, simple way for families to get advice on what can be a very stressful and overwhelming time in their lives.”

Student Choice also assists families through in-person seminars, blog and social media posts, and content from iGrad, a comprehensive online tool dedicated to financial literacy.

Students and parents may register for the national webinar online via the co-branded website of any Student Choice partner credit union or at www.studentchoice.org/national-webinars. A recording of the FAFSA webinar is also available on the website.
