WASHINGTON–CUNA’s political action committee, the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC), has been ranked as the largest trade association political action committee, and fifth largest PAC nationally, in terms of direct giving to candidates by the Center for Responsive Politics. CULAC raised more than $1.7 million for the 2016 election cycle.
In the 2016 election season, 51% of CULAC’s funds have gone to Republicans and 49% to Democrats. CULAC is neutral toward the two parties.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, CULAC raised $4.43 million in the 2013-14 election cycle, including more than $3 million in direct contributions in 396 races, with only one candidate per race receiving support.
