WASHINGTON–Donations of $5,000 each have been made to Credit Union House, the World Council of Credit Unions and the National Credit Union Foundation by the CUNA Councils and the Council Forum.
The presentation of the checks was made on International Credit Union Day during a celebration at Credit Union House here.
Sue McCue, director of Credit Union House; Peter Graves, SVP-technical services with WOCCU, and Gigi Hyland, executive director with the Foundation were on-hand to accept the donations, which were presented by Heather Moshier, the Council Forum chair and EVP-technology at San Diego County CU; Jason Osterhage, Council Forum VP and SVP-lending with Alliant CU, and Michelle Hunter, Council Forum second vice chair and SVP-marketing with Credit Union of Southern California.
The 16-member Council Forum, comprised of the chair and vice chair of each of the six CUNA Councils’ executive committees plus the Forum Chair, second vice chair, and two emeritus members, was in Washington on International Credit Union Day for its semi-annual meeting to discuss collaborative Council projects and initiatives, and to meet with regulators from the CFPB and NCUA.
The Council Forum met with Elizabeth Ellis, deputy assistant director, Office of Financial Institutions and business liaison, with the CFPB to discuss priority issues such as HMDA, the interaction between the CFPB and other regulatory bodies, Reg Z/TILA-RESPA disclosure implementation, regulatory relief, pre-paid cards, overdraft fee/courtesy pay changes, and small dollar payday/auto title loans.
The Forum also met with Tim Segerson, deputy director, Office of Examination and Insurance, and Buddy Gill, sr. strategic communications and external relations advisor with the NCUA to discuss concerns the agency will address during the next 12 months, MBL changes, regulatory relief, cybersecurity, the stabilization refund, exam issues, suggested improvements to Share Insurance Fund, CECL, and risk-based lending.
