CUNA HR Council Unveils New Name

change

MADISON, Wis.—The CUNA HR/TD Council has changed its name to the CUNA HR & Organizational Development Council.

The new name more closely unifies the members and their professional backgrounds with the intent of the group, according to a release from the CUNA Councils.

“We wanted to recognize the scope of activities that human resource and training professionals use to address new circumstances and challenges,” said Robert Davis, SVP human resources at the $5.5-billion VyStar Credit Union in Jacksonville, Fla., and executive committee chair of the Council. “Our name change reflects the extensive tools that credit unions utilize to acquire, serve and retain valuable employees.”

Davis indicated that the Council’s executive committee felt that “organizational development” was more descriptive than “training,” in that it covers a broader range – from functional or technical training and talent management to career or leadership development and succession planning.

“A changing environment means our members will be required to use different approaches and resources to keep their credit unions competitive and proactive for future growth,” noted Davis.
