CUs A Minority At Mortgage Bankers Assn. Meeting This Week

NEW YORK CITY—If you go by the numbers, Kinecta Federal Credit Union is the credit union most interested in the secondary mortgage markets.

The Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based cooperative has registered six officials to attend the Mortgage Bankers Association’s National Secondary Market Conference here this week. No other credit union is sending more than two.

In all 17 credit union executives have registered for the mortgage trade group’s annual look at the state of the secondary markets. That comes to about 1% of total attendees.

One scheduled event at the conference targets credit unions specifically. That is a community bank and credit union network meeting set for Monday, May 18. The meeting is closed to the media.

The only other credit union with more than one representative scheduled to attend is Rogue Credit Union of Medford, Ore. Other CUs with representative in attendance include Golden 1 Credit Union, Sacramento, Calif; BECU, Tukwila, Wash.; SAFE Credit Union, Folsom, Calif.; Elevations Credit Union, Boulder, Colo.; Alaska USA, Anchorage; Fairwinds Credit Union of Orlando, Fla.; Self-Help Credit Union of Durham, N.C.; MyCUmortgage, a CUSO based in Fairborn, Ohio, and a representative of CUNA.
