Carrie Hunt Steps Down As Chief Advocacy Officer At America’s Credit Unions

WASHINGTON—Carrie Hunt has resigned as chief advocacy officer at America’s Credit Unions, the trade group confirmed.

Carrie Hunt

Hunt joined ACU in March 2024 after serving as president of the Virginia Credit Union League. Before leading VCUL, she was executive vice president of government affairs and general counsel at NAFCU.

“We appreciate her contributions during her time here and wish her well,” ACU said in a statement to CUToday.info. “Led by our CEO Jim Nussle, our advocacy team remains highly experienced, deeply engaged and fully committed to advancing credit union priorities at every level of government. Supported by our league partners and industry allies, America’s credit unions advocacy strength will remain as strong and effective as ever.”

Hunt’s departure comes after speculation that she was among the candidates to succeed Nussle as CEO. However, the trade group recently announced that Scott Simpson, who heads the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues and the Utah Credit Union Association, will take over as president and CEO in November.
