TAUNTON, Mass. —Staff and members at an office of First Citizens FCU here faced a “harrowing” experience Christmas Eve, when a masked robber entered the building and fired a shot into the wall.
Authorities reported that the robber carried a short-barreled gun that resembled a Soviet-bloc rifle. No one was injured, and the robber, still at large, escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect has only been described as a man approximately 5-feet, 4-inches tall. Credit union employees were unable to determine the man’s race or ethnicity because he was wearing gloves and a Halloween-type mask, stated police who described the event as “harrowing.”
Police stated it appears the man might have fired a warning shot when he became upset after a drive-thru teller turned to look at him.
The $620-million CU is based in Fairhaven, Mass.
