Colorado Names Ex-Cal. League Lobbyist As New Regulator

Patricia Salazar

DENVER–A former regulator and lobbyist in California has been named to take over Colorado’s Division of Financial Services.

Patricia Salazar has been appointed as commissioner of the division, which regulates state-charters in this state. She will begin the job on Nov. 12, reporting to Joe Neguse, who oversees Colorado’s Department of Regulatory Agencies.

Salazar previously worked in the California Department of Business Oversight, where she served as a deputy commissioner. She also previously worked as state legislative and regulatory lobbyist for the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues in Ontario, Calif.

Salazar fills the post that had been held by Chris Myklebust, who was named Colorado state bank commissioner in June. Deputy Commissioner Mark Valente served as acting commissioner since June.

“Patty’s broad experience and already existing relationships within our state and industry will be a particular asset to the interests of Colorado’s credit unions,” said Scott Earl, president and CEO of the Mountain West Credit Union Association. “Her experience and background will be helpful as we navigate the ever-challenging world of financial regulations.”
