SAN DIEGO–Registration is now open for Xpress Data’s 2016 Credit Union Chili Challenge. The fourth annual event raises funds for charity.
The event, which is sanctioned by the International Chili Society, will be held August 6 at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racetrack in Del Mar, Calif. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a great day of chili and horse racing, according to Xpress Data, a provider of print and electronic document services for credit unions across the country.
“We had a record turnout last year, and we’re expecting even more credit unions to participate this year,” said Xpress Data founder Mike Cooper. “It’s a great way to have some fun, team-build, and raise money for charity all at the same time.”
Cooper stated that a total of $10,000 in prize money will be donated to charities designated by the first-, second- and third-place winners.
The credit unions each provide a $500 entry fee that goes to the prize money, and, other than ingredients and utensils, Xpress Data furnishes each credit union with everything they need, including four admission tickets to the racetrack. Entries will be judged by credit union executives, members of the press, and well-known industry vendors.
“Many participating credit unions start the team-building early by having their own chili cook-off to choose a team,” added Cooper. “Once a credit union experiences the fun, they tend to come back again and again.”
