Credit Union Settles Case Over ADA Complaint

NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The U.S. Attorney’s Office has settled an Americans with Disabilities Act case with 360 Federal Credit Union in the wake of a complaint that the union would not accept a video relay call.

According to WTNH, a member who is hard of hearing had complained that 360 Federal Credit Union would not accept video relay calls. Such calls allow people who have hearing disabilities to communicate over the telephone by using video equipment to essentially translate the person’s use of American Sign Language.

WTNH reported that 360 FCU has since worked to change its policies and practices throughout the investigation to be more inclusive to individuals with disabilities. The company has worked to comply with the ADA and Department of Justice’s implementing regulations.

360 Federal Credit Union said it now accepts all video relay calls at all of its locations, and it is updating training and other practices in order make its branches more accessible.
