SEATTLE — A piece of heavy equipment was recently used to rip two ATMs out of a BECU branch here, KOMO News reported.
Thieves used a front loader to first smash into the BECU branch, and then rip out the two ATMs and place them into a nearby SUVs, KOMO News said.
The front of the bank branch was extensively damaged.
Seattle police said whoever stole the ATMs loaded them into a vehicle, but one of the machines fell out about a street away from the credit union, where it was found lying in the road. Seattle police used a squad car to drag it back to the credit union, KOMO News said.
"They took one of the ATMs in one of the SUVS and they were not able to take the second one," said Seattle Police Department spokesperson Brian Pritchard.
Police said the front loader was stolen from a construction site near the credit union, KOMO News said. The amount of money stolen was not disclosed.
