WASHINGTON--Congressman Mike Haridopolos, representing Florida’s 8th Congressional District, will provide a featured “View from the Capitol” at the Defense Credit Union Council's Defense Matters event on Tuesday, March 3, at the Marriott Marquis hotel in Washington.
DCUC’s Defense Matters 2026 empowers credit union leaders to stay informed, engaged, and ready to take action on behalf of their members. The annual event brings together credit industry leaders, policymakers, and advocates to discuss the legislative and regulatory issues shaping credit unions serving military, veteran, and defense communities worldwide, the trade group noted.
“We are honored to welcome Congressman Haridopolos to Defense Matters 2026,” said Anthony Hernandez, DCUC president/CEO. “His willingness to share his time and insights provides tremendous value to our member credit unions as they navigate a rapidly evolving policy and regulatory environment. Direct engagement with lawmakers helps ensure credit unions remain well-positioned to serve communities across the Nation and overseas.”
“This segment will offer our attendees a meaningful perspective on the legislative landscape and the issues impacting financial institutions serving servicemembers, veterans, and their families. We are grateful to Congressman Haridopolos for engaging with our members and contributing to informed, constructive dialogue on Capitol Hill priorities,” added Jason Stverak, DCUC chief advocacy officer.
U.S. Rep. Mike Haridopolos brings a background in public service, business and conservative policymaking to Congress.
Haridopolos began his career teaching U.S. history and political science at Brevard Community College, now Eastern Florida State College, and later taught at the Bob Graham Center at the University of Florida.
He represented Brevard County in the Florida House and Senate from 2000 to 2012, where he championed tax reductions, government transparency and accountability. He led efforts to put the state budget online and, in 2008, sponsored a constitutional amendment to reduce property taxes and allow homeowners to transfer tax savings when moving.
Haridopolos served as Florida Senate president from 2010 to 2012, prioritizing conservative policy reforms during his tenure.
