Dort FCU Buys Naming Rights To Arena

FLINT, Mich.—Dort FCU has purchased the naming rights to Perani Arena, a local minor league hockey facility that is home to the Flint Firebirds.

The $640-million Dort CU partnered with the IMS Hockey and Arena Corporations of Flint to secure the naming rights for the next 10 years. Financial terms were not disclosed, MLive.com reported. The arena, named Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center, will kick off the Firebirds' inaugural season in the Ontario Hockey League this fall.

Besides being a home for hockey the arena has also been used for other events, including the Shrine Circus, RV and camper shows, home and garden shows and motorcycle ice Races.

"This is another great day for Flint and Genesee County," Flint Firebirds President Costa Papista told MLive. "As owners and caretakers of the community's only major event center and OHL franchise, we require a significant amount of corporate support to deliver quality events, amenities and experiences that the region can be proud to call their own.

"Dort Federal Credit Union understands the vision and the magnitude of this community project," he added. "They have stepped up to ensure a long-term success story for Flint, Genesee County and the region."
