BOSTON—DraftKings has eliminated the use of credit cards for sportsbook and online casino deposits across the U.S., SportsHandle reported.
The company said the shift is intended to shield customers from cash advance fees and high interest rates associated with credit card funding. The move follows a $450,000 fine levied by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission for allowing prohibited credit card deposits in the state.
A DraftKings spokesperson told SBC Americas the change was a “strategic business decision.” Customers can now fund accounts through alternatives such as debit cards, ACH and wire transfers, PayPal, Venmo, and Apple Pay, where allowed.
While DraftKings described the policy as an upgrade to the user experience, its timing underscores heightened regulatory pressure. Massachusetts bans all gambling-related credit card deposits, even when the cards originate from states that allow them, SportsHandle noted.
