WAYNESBORO, Va.— DuPont Community Credit Union has tapped Barry Smith to take over next year for retiring CEO Steve Elkins, The Daily Progress reported.
Smith is currently EVP and COO of the $1.9-bilion CU.
“Barry has over 27 years of experience in the financial industry and has been part of DCCU’s leadership team for the past 19 years," Angie Simonetti, chair of the credit union's board, said in a statement. "He brings a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of our industry, and a strong vision for the future.”
Regarding Elkins, Simonetti said, “his exceptional leadership has been instrumental in helping DuPont Community Credit Union navigate through significant growth, change, and even times of uncertainty, consistently ensuring stability and progress.”
DuPont Community Credit Union has 14 branch locations, serving more than 120,000 members, The Daily Progress noted.
