CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—Dupont Community Credit Union here is changing its name to Scenic Community CU.
The 61-year-old credit union moved to a community charter in 1983, and now also serves the six-county Chattanooga market.
"With fewer Dupont employees and retirees in town, we wanted to have a name that better represented our community charter," Kendall Foster, the credit union’s CEO, told the Chattanooga Times Free Press. "This is a kind of play off of the Scenic City name, but since we serve more than just the city we wanted to have a community name as our brand. We want people to know that we are your community credit union."
Over its lifespan the 13,500-member SCCU has also absorbed six other CUs via merger.
