Eagle Community CU Names New President and CEO

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif.–  Eagle Community Credit Union has named a new president and CEO. The $359.4-million ECCU has selected Michael Kim to lead the organization.

Kim has more than 25 years’ experience in financial services, most recently serving as VP-lending at MyPoint Credit Union, where he “transformed its lending function with centralized lending and created a new mortgage department. His focus on process improvements and the member experience created efficiencies for both members and staff alike,” the credit union said.

Kim has also served as chief lending officer at First Entertainment Credit Union in California, as SVP-director of product management at Citibank, and as chief lending officer and chief marketing officer with USC Credit Union, where he was also president/CEO of its wholly-owned CUSO, Education Loan Resources.

"Mike’s unique blend of expertise in lending, retail banking, marketing, and business development provides him with a broad perspective essential for leading Eagle Community Credit Union towards a bright future," Chairman Louie Flores said in a statement. "His commitment to the credit union movement and proven track record of success make him the perfect fit for this role."

Other Roles

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Kim was also appointed to the Negotiated Rulemaking Committee in Washington to reauthorize the Higher Education Act of 1965. “His involvement ensured that key legislative language addressing credit union concerns was incorporated into the final regulation,” ECCU said.

Kim holds a Bachelor’s Degree and MBA from the University of Southern California. He has also earned the Credit Union Business Lending Certification from America’s Credit Unions.

ECCU has approximately 23,000 members.
