Edward FCU’s Long-Time CEO Retires; New CEO Is Named

Stan Turner

EDWARDS, Calif.–Stan Turner, CEO of the $179-million Edwards FCU here, is retiring effective April 30 after a decade of leading the credit union.

Named to replace Turner is Roy MacKinnon, who was formerly VP-marketing with First Entertainment Credit Union in Hollywood, Calif. MacKinnon was part of a management team that oversaw growth of more than 1,500% while at First Entertainment.

“As the president/CEO of Edwards Federal Credit Union for the past nine years, I have seen the results of a challenging economy,” said Turner. “As it stands right now, Edwards is the only remaining locally headquartered financial institution in the Antelope Valley.”

A native of California, Turner graduated from Fresno State, served in Vietnam, and returned home and began a 46-year career in financial services.  During his career Turner was active with the Lancaster West Rotary Club, the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, the Lancaster Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, the CIV-Mil group and the Central Christian Church.

“I will miss the volunteers, the employees and especially the loyal members who truly made EFCU successful,” said Turner. “I am glad that I was able to make a contribution.”

Roy MacKinnon

MacKinnon noted that “Edwards has a proud heritage of serving both military and civilian personnel on the base. Service to base personnel combined with its community charter for the Antelope Valley area perfectly positions EFCU future growth. I’m excited for this opportunity and look forward to helping the credit union grow and serve its members.”

Edwards FCU serves 21,000 members and has two branches, one in Lancaster, Calif., the other on Edwards Air Force Base, which it was chartered to serve in 1962. It serves both military personnel and civilians.
