CHICAGO–The CUToday For a Better Tomorrow Initiative has now gone international.
Created to mark CUToday.info’s first birthday in early October, the initiative asks credit unions to do two very simple things: help one extra member per month during October, November and December, and then share a paragraph on who was helped and why.
More than 60 credit unions have signed on, including two CUs from the United Kingdom and another in the Philippines.
Joining the CUToday For a Better Tomorrow initiative from the U.K. are Dragonsavers Credit Union and Darlingon Credit Union. Participating from the Philippines is Tektron Entre Multipurpose Cooperative CU.
Those credit unions that wish to join the initiative may still do so. All participants will be sent a monthly e-mail asking them to respond with a single paragraph on the member who was helped, and how. CUToday.info will then compile into one document all of the examples of how credit unions are making members’ lives better. The document will be available for free to everyone. It’s that simple.
The ways in which a credit union may help its members to have a better 2016 are as varied as the ways CUs help people: the refinancing of an overpriced loan from another lender; moving an unbanked or underbanked person into an account; saving a member from a predatory check-casher; assisting an elderly member with straightening out their finances, and so much more. Credit unions that already have such active efforts in place are encouraged to participate, as well.
The CUToday for a Better Tomorrow initiative is designed to help not just members, but credit unions and the broader credit union community as well.
