Employee Charged With Embezzling, Purchasing Porsche

ORLANDO, Fla.—A former employee of Fairwinds Credit Union has been charged with embezzling $258,000, using the proceeds in part to buy a new Porsche.

Arrested by Male Y. Rivera, 35, or Orlando, who was charged in a 17-count indictment. If convicted, Rivera faces up to 30 years in federal prison for each of the 16 embezzlement counts, plus a 10-year term for money laundering.

Authorities did not say how the money was stolen, only that it was stolen on 16 different occasions from 2010 to 2011, in amounts ranging from $2,000 to $40,000, and that she used $44,000 as a partial payment for a Porsche.
