ROCHESTER, N.Y.–A former credit union employee has been sentenced to time served plus two years of supervised release after being convicted of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from ATMs.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Sonja Matos, 28, of Elmira, N.Y., a former employee of Corning Credit Union where she worked in risk management and card services, stole more than $40,000 from two ATMs. Matos’ duties included updating the software of ATMs and loading money into the credit union's cash-dispensing machines. The thefts took place from January through April of this year.
