FDIC Director Submits Resignation

Jeremiah Norton, FDIC

WASHINGTON—Jeremiah O. Norton has submitted his resignation as director of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, effective June 5. Norton has held the post since April of 2012.

"Jeremiah has been an extraordinarily effective and influential member of the FDIC Board," said FDIC Chairman Martin J. Gruenberg in a statement. "He has made major contributions to important actions by the FDIC in the wake of the financial crisis. We are grateful for his service, we will miss his thoughtful insights, and we wish him well in his future endeavors."

The FDIC insures 6,509 banks and savings associations.
