MADISON, Wis. — With recent research again showing that women are noticeably absent from top executives seats at credit unions around the world, the World Council of CUs’ Global Women’s Leadership Network is encouraging emerging female credit union leaders to apply for a Network scholarship to participate in technical assistance and capacity-building opportunities.
Scholarship winners receive complimentary membership to the Network, and participate in the 2016 World Credit Union Conference and Network Forum. Recipients also have a chance to receive an Empowerment Grant to bring increased access to loans, credit and financial education to women in their community.
To be eligible, applicants must be female emerging leaders in the global credit union movement, which include young professionals and leaders from developing credit union movements. Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to effectively implement their proposed project and suggest appropriate engagement from Network members, such as volunteer field opportunities and knowledge exchanges.
Interested women should submit their application to CUwomen@woccu.org by April 4. A committee will review applications and contact successful candidates by April 15. For complete details about the scholarship criteria and awards, visit www.CUwomen.org/scholarships.
Since 2009, the Network has awarded scholarships to 37 women from 20 countries and granted over $400,000 to World Council field projects including five Empowerment Grants.
