KATY, Texas—First Service Credit Union has opened its first branch here as part of an ambitious goal over the next three years of growing by 47%.
FSCU currently has 10 branches in the Houston area and more new branches and other product and service innovations are planned as part of the growth plan, FSCU said.
"We have thousands of members in the Katy area who have told us they wanted a branch there," said Mike McWethy, chief operations officer. "Katy is one of the fastest-growing areas in the entire nation, and having a presence there is definitely a plus for us as well as a convenience to our members."
The new facility employs what First Service described as its “distinctive look” in terms of colors, branding, and a “modern, retail approach.” It is the first branch it has ever built from the ground up, having either leased previous locations or inherited from an earlier owner.
The $546-million First Service has set a goal of growing to $800 million in assets by 2018. Two more branch openings are planned for this year. The Katy, Texas location will participate in a shared branch network.
