Following Ransomware Attack, Patelco Has Restored Many Services, But Others Remain Unavailable

DUBLIN, Calif.–While many of its primary members services have been restored, many other services at Patelco Credit Union remain out of service following a ransomware attack, according to the credit union’s latest update.

As CUToday.info has been reporting, Patelco was hit by the ransomware in late June, knocking its online and mobile banking services offline and creating concern and havoc for many of its 500,000 members.

After more than a week it was able to restore some basic services, although balance inquiries, even in branch, remained offline.

In its newest update on the microsite Patelco has created to keep members updated, the CU reported online banking, its mobile app and balance inquiries are now functional. Other services, including branches and its call center, have limited functionality, while e-statements, new accounts, new loans, instant card issuance and more remain unavailable (see graphic, below).

No Timetable

In her latest update on the site, CEO Eva Mendez, who thanked members for their ongoing patience, did not provide any timetable for restoration of the services that are still unavailable.

As CUToday.info has previously reported Patelco is waving fees and covering other costs members incur as a result of the outage.
