WINCHESTER, Va.—Donna Jennings, the former manager at the now defunct Winchester Community FCU, has been sentenced to 54 months in prison for embezzling over $1 million from the credit union.
Jennings was also ordered to forfeit and pay $1,059,767.52 in restitution to her victims.
Jennings pleaded guilty on Dec. 18, 2015. According to court documents, Jennings admitted to stealing the money from the CU from 2001 to 2014.
Jennings admitted to not only creating false member loans, but to frequently taking money from teller drawers and even fraudulently conducting loan advances ranging from $5,000 to $70,000. Her reasoning for taking the money? To help cover her shopping addiction, court documents indicate.
As a result of Jennings’ theft, the tiny CU failed.
