EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.–A former employee of Scott Credit Union has filed suit against the credit union, alleging wrongful termination and age discrimination.
In her suit, Deborah Willis is alleging violations of the Illinois Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, Willis joined Scott CU as an assistant branch manager on Dec. 26, 2007, and was praised for her job performance, including being named employee of the year for 2013. On April 27, 2014, she was relocated to a branch in Highland, Ill.
Willis alleged that from September 2014 to Jan. 13, 2015 Scott Credit Union issued a series of charges against the plaintiff that did not qualify as formal discipline, charges she said were made for the sole purposes of creating a basis to replace Willis with a younger employee.
Willis further alleged that in addition to herself, three other longstanding employees older than 40 were also terminated and replaced by younger employees.
Willis is seeking damages of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney John H. Leskera of the Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville.
