HOUSTON—A former manager of Prairie View FCU has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to embezzling more than $211,500 from an elderly couple, the Houston Landing reported.
Prosecutors had recommended a sentence of 36 months for Gloria Jean Hall, 58, who managed Prairie View from 2000 to 2020. However the court decided that due to Hall’s age, ties to the community, and family support, a deviation from the sentencing guidelines was appropriate.
NCUA banned Hall from credit unions late last year.
Hall has been free on bond since her September 2022 arrest and is set to report to the Bureau of Prisons to begin serving her sentence. The judge agreed to recommend that Hall be housed at Federal Prison Camp Bryan, a minimum-security women’s facility about 100 miles northwest of Houston, the Houston Landing said.
Prior to being sentenced, Hall, accompanied by several family members, apologized to her family and to Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union, which acquired Prairie View in 2022, the Houston Landing reported.
