MADISON, Wis.–To highlight National Employee Wellness Month in June, the National Credit Union Foundation plans to hold a Twitter chat on Thursday, June 18 at 3 p.m. (CT) to discuss how credit unions include financial wellness as part of their internal programs.
“At the core of every credit union’s mission is the guiding principle to help improve the financial well-being of members, but what are credit unions doing to improve staff’s financial well-being?” said Christopher Morris, Foundation director of communications. “Financial education is critical to these endeavors and a subject that’s also an integral part of the Foundation’s work to improve people’s financial lives. Naturally then, we are very excited to host this forum for idea sharing around credit unions’ financial wellness programs.”
The Foundation pointed to a 2014 Society for Human Resource Management survey that found that seven out of ten human resource professionals indicated that personal financial challenges have a large, or some impact, on their employees’ performance, with about one-half reporting that employee stress (50%) and the ability to focus on work (47%) are the aspects of employee performance that are most negatively affected by personal financial challenges.
The Twitter chat is a live streaming conversation, free and open to anyone with a Twitter account. For this Twitter chat, the hashtag will be #foundationchat. Twitter users can either type #foundationchat into the Twitter search box or utilize other tools such as Tweet Chat, Twubs, etc. to follow the conversation.
Credit union professionals and organizations are invited to follow the Foundation at @NCUFoundation for news and updates. The @NCUFoundation account will also be leading the Twitter chat discussion. Questions will be tweeted using a Q1, Q2, etc. format, which can be replied to with a corresponding A1, A2, etc. format. All questions and answers should contain the #foundationchat hashtag.
