BANNOCKBURN, Ill.–Great Lakes Credit Union is absorbing Bell West Community Credit Union via merger.
The Bell West branch will remain open as a Great Lakes CU branch at its current location in Oak Lawn.
“I am thrilled that Bell West members will be joining our GLCU family and continue to enjoy the benefits of a credit union as our two organizations merge,” says Vikki Kaiser, president/CEO of Great Lakes Credit Union. “We are also pleased to be able to provide them with an array of new financial products and services.”
Great Lakes CU has more than 65,000 members and $693 million in assets. Bell West CCU had 2,500 members and $24 million in assets.
Meanwhile, in Eastpointe, Mich., Eastside Family FCU is being absorbed in a merger by Community Choice Credit Union in Farmington Hills, Mich.
Community Choice now has more than 70,000 members and more than $700 million in assets. Family Federal had $30 million in assets and 3,100 members.
This is the second merger this year for Community Choice. In April it added the 11,500 members and $100 million in assets of Wyandotte-based NuPath Community Credit Union.
“By joining forces, we are each made stronger, and our members benefit from that strength. We’re able to offer even more services, better rates and the latest technology, without sacrificing the community-centered way of doing business that makes credit unions so great,” said Dan Munro, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Community Choice, in a release.
