Georgia’s Own CU Memorializes Former President Jimmy Carter With Large Mural

ATLANTA—Following the news of former President Jimmy Carter’s death, Georgia’s Own Credit Union memorialized Mr. Carter Monday via a large mural atop its offices on 100 Peachtree Street, the credit union reported.

The tribute is 450 feet in the air and the length of two basketball courts, the $4.2-billion CU said.

“Today we remember the life of former president and Georgia native, Jimmy Carter,” the CU stated on its website.

Georgia’s Own detailed Carter’s life in a message on its site, saying Mr. Carter was “born to humble beginnings in Plains, where his family owned a peanut farm…Carter won the 1976 presidential election after serving terms in the Georgia State Senate and as governor. His work didn’t stop there—he founded The Carter Center to promote and expand human rights, earning him a Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. He also volunteered for Habitat Humanity and taught Sunday school at his home church in Plains.

“Our thoughts are with Jimmy Carter’s loved ones as they not only deal with the loss of an inspiration to many but also a beloved family member. Jimmy Carter impacted the lives of thousands, and his legacy will live on forever,” the credit union continued.

The artwork featured on the sign was created by Atlanta artist Dane Jefferson, Georgia’s Own said.
