FORT WORTH, Texas–During graduation ceremonies here, the Southwest CUNA Management School graduating Class of 2015 presented a check to the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation totaling $90,649.55.
The money is to fund future scholarships that will help ensure the program’s continued success in its development of the current and future leaders of the credit union movement, as well as providing access to SCMS for all credit union professionals interested in a future in credit union management.
During its graduation ceremonies on the campus of Texas Christian University, class president and Southwest 66 President and CEO Sean Cahill announced the creation of the Pay It Forward Scholarship with the Foundation. The scholarship was developed by the Class of 2015 on day two of their first year in the distinguished three-year program for credit union industry leaders.
“The Class of 2015 is an amazing group of leaders who wanted to leave behind a legacy for Southwest CUNA Management School,” said Cahill. “From day one, [SCMS Director] Janine McBee and John Vardallas [senior faculty strategist and project evaluator] instilled in us the desire to leave something behind that no one had done before. We saw an opportunity to do so with the scholarship fund.”
