‘Granny Desperado’ Hits Branch–Which Brings About 1 Person’s Funny Insight

SOMERVILLE, Mass.–A woman dubbed the “granny desperado” by local media is the suspect in a robbery of Community Credit Union.

Authorities say a woman judged to be in her 70s who was wearing a fedora-style hat, left the CU with cash and hasn’t been captured since leaving the branch, according to the Boston Herald. The Herald reported that the robbery happened just steps from a large construction project in Davis Square — where many cops working the job were nearby and media crews were on-site covering the story about the project.

The Boston Herald quoted one person, after hearing about the suspect in the robbery, as saying, “A lot of bankers are criminals and they must be 70.”
