Hackers Claiming To Be ISIS Take Down CU’s Site

BUTTE, Mont.—Hackers identifying themselves as the terrorist group ISIS have taken down the website of Southwest Montana Community FCU.

The hackers replaced the site with the black ISIS flag and the words, “Hacked by Islamic State we are everywhere.”

It is not known if the hackers were actually affiliated with ISIS or were domestic hackers.

Sheriff Ed Lester says the Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement Department is in the process of contacting the FBI.

"I don't think ISIS agents would be interested in a hack like this," Lester told local media. “I think this is more likely a domestic hacker rather than international cyber terrorism."

It is not believed that any accounts have been compromised. The ISIS message has been taken down and at press time the site bore the message, “Under Construction. Please Come Back Later.”

The $101-million SMCFCU has 7,200 members.

Media outlets across the country are reporting that a number of other websites have been hacked by the same group.
