Hoff To Retire From Fibre FCU

Jim Hoff (L) and Chris Bradberry

LONGVIEW, Wash.—After leading Fibre FCU for 15 years, CEO Larry Hoff will retire at the end of the year.

Chris Bradberry, president and COO, will succeed the 64-year-old Hoff.

Since Hoff took over in 2001, the CU has increased in size, totaling 14 branches in two states today. The $935-million Fibre has 87,290 members — up from about $580 million in assets and 60,000 members nine years ago.

“Back then, we were a community credit union, with Cowlitz County as our field of membership. Under Larry, today we are a regional credit union, and we’re spread out all the way down the Oregon Coast,” Terry Alsteen, chairman of the Fibre FCU’s board of directors, told The Daily News.

Fibre FCU estimates that 70% of Cowlitz County residents belong to a credit union. That compares to just 30% of residents in Clark County.

“Cowlitz County is credit union ground zero,” Hoff told the publication. “I think the future is very bright. It puzzles me to see why (this area) hasn’t exploded. I think it’s inevitable.”
